Prospective Graduate Students
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering
offers a variety of graduate degree programs to meet your needs. We
offer master's and doctoral degree programs for full-time students
on the Lawrence campus, and master's degree programs in the evenings
for part-time students in the Kansas City, Lawrence and Topeka
areas. Our graduate degree programs in Construction Management and
Environmental Science do not require bachelor's degrees in
engineering.
As a full-time graduate student on the Lawrence campus, you can:
- Participate in innovative research as a team member
- Receive generous financial assistance
- Enjoy life in Lawrence.
As a part-time graduate student in one of our evening programs, you
can:
-
Earn your master's degree while continuing full-time employment
-
Take civil engineering graduate courses at Edwards Campus in
Overland Park
-
Take construction management graduate courses in the evening in
Lawrence.
Missouri residents in the Kansas City area receive special KC Metro
tuition rates at KU Edwards Campus.
Degree options
Graduate students in the department have many programs and degree
options from which to choose including those that are research
intensive and those that are less so...
Research-based master of science degree programs are offered in:
- civil engineering,
- architectural engineering,
- environmental engineering,
- environmental science, and
- water resources science.
Ph.D. programs lead to the doctor of philosophy in:
- civil engineering,
- environmental engineering and environmental science.
The department also offers three graduate programs that are not as
research-intensive:
-
The master of construction management (M.C.M.), on the Lawrence
Campus, requires coursework and a project report.
-
The master of civil engineering (M.C.E.) degree is offered
primarily through evening courses at the KU Edwards Campus in
Overland Park.
-
A doctor of engineering (D.E.) degree is available in civil
engineering on the Lawrence Campus. Students in these programs
often maintain their full- or part-time employment.
